Nino Bakuradze is not only an illustrator but also a doctor, a profession she has practiced for 28 years. She lives in Tbilisi with her husband, two children, and their remarkable Vizsla, Buba, affectionately called “Count Laszlo.”
Alongside her medical career, Nino has long been engaged in creative work: she draws, illustrates, and writes. She has already published two books, and her upcoming exhibition at DAE will be her third.
Dreams and Inspiration
Nino’s works lead viewers into a dreamlike world where reality and imagination merge.
“A dream is an unreal world where no boundaries exist, only the desire to travel somewhere, and that ‘somewhere’ is your imagination. Sometimes it takes the shape of colors, sometimes shadows. You fly from one reality to another, meeting the characters you’ve invented yourself. What remains are colors and emotions and they take form.”
A Balance of Cultures
Nino’s art harmoniously blends Japanese aesthetics, French elegance, and Tbilisi warmth.
“That’s where I feel at home. Maybe that’s why – you might come across a wandering geisha on Shavteli Street, where the smallest clock in the world stands, and precisely at seven o’clock, life’s little episodes change places.”
Her illustrations skillfully unite different cultural elements, creating visuals that feel both familiar and enchanting.
The Role of Music
“Any melody influences us in some way, but there’s always your music, the one that sets your thoughts and emotions in motion. Without melody, everything would lose its rhythm – it would be a quiet stillness.”
For Nino, music is an active companion that shapes her creative process and rhythm.
What to Expect at DAE • დაე
“Simply, a red evening... a walk through the streets of Buenos Aires to the sound of tango, the city’s hum where everyone follows their own rhythm, a meeting with friends in a truly special place.”
Future Plans
“I can’t say anything specific – tomorrow a new idea might just appear. That’s what makes life interesting. If there’s an idea, why not give it wings?”
